Subject: A Message for Edgar
Brod Joey,
Here is the message that I hurriedly scribbled for Edgar's tribute party today. Thank you for being there for us who are unable to attend. You are a very worthy ambassador to represent out class of 1971. Have fun and take care. God bless.
Elmer

What can one do or say to convey a heartfelt gratitude to Edgar.
How about announcing to all of you here present that without his dedicated and endearing efforts to reconnect the graduates of MI, we would not have been able to touch base with our long lost high school classmates and friends.
Maybe by letting you all aware of (if you are not already) that Edgar and his circle of well-meaning friends have pioneered a technically savvy medium of inviting, welcoming and inspiring everyone to make a difference in the lives of others who have been buffeted by the harshness of fate.
Could it be expressed with a litany of all the endeavors that he and his goodhearted classmates and friends have already accomplished, or with an invocation of the undertakings that are still ongoing, or by the recital of upcoming projects that are vigorously being pursued with relentless and steadfast tenacity?
I guess it would not be incongruent to express gratitude through a sincere recognition of a job well done.
But for me as a member of the MI Class of 1971, while acknowledging all these excellent ways of expressing gratitude to Edgar, I prefer to simply say with all sincerity and candor a very heartfelt and sincere......
"THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR BEING YOU WHICH IS SO CLEARLY MANIFESTED IN THE COUNTENANCE OF ALL THE ALUMNI WHO HAVE BEEN SO DEEPLY TOUCHED BY YOUR CARING EFFORTS JUST AS I WAS!!!"
May your days be always filled with God's grace and blessings. Keep up the good work. Cheers and more power to you.

Subject: Re: A Toast Day to Edgar Gonzales
Dear Joey,
Yes I knew from him too that he was going thru dialysis - but such a nice disposition he has. We really owe him a lot. Anyway, since you asked for a message, here it goes....
"I never got to know Edgar personally during our MI days but I always hear very positive comments and words of admiration coming from teachers, including my mother, Mrs Flor Lasam and my aunt, Mrs Rosario Guzman. Graduating as Valedictorian (guess I've read several yearbooks at my aunt's house as a kid), his CV also says that he was not only intelligent but a well-rounded individual as well. He is a very humble person, compassionate, hard-working, very persevering, and always encouraged us to study hard when I met him as a librarian at MI. He was working his way to college at that time. As a young man, I remember Edgar as very tall and good-looking. He excelled as a college student, as expected of a very scholarly person and graduated magna cum laude and found his niche there in the US. When I got to talk to him in California last summer, he was very encouraging and he, together with Rolly Malinis are doing a great job inspiring MI graduates to reconnect and have homecomings. Edgar is really not only a person to emulate in terms of hard work and intelligence - he is a truly generous and nurturing man as well. His family and friends are lucky to have him and we feel so lucky and blessed too, to have him as our leader, mentor, supporter, and "KUYA". God bless you always, Edgar!!!"
I hope this gets to him Joey. Miss kita and the others too of course.
Anna

Dear Joey and Lourdes,
HIndi ko alam kung sino ang magbabasa nito sa inyong dalawa so i send ko sa inyo pareho. I have prepared a toasting speech Since a toast is always short, this is what I have but if you can please mention that I have written this on behalf of our class, I would appreciate it.
"Not too many people can say they help reunite thousands of people in their lifetime. Along with another special human being, RM, Edgar, this is your gift of a lifetime for us, people you don’t even know and most of us you haven’t even seen. We owe you a lot of smiles, for every smile we have each time we find a classmate. Our small reunions would never have taken place if you did not help distribute the information. It took you so much time and effort to unselfishly coordinate something that will possibly shield us from the isolation of our golden years ahead. We're now building bridges accross the miles, everyday, one email at a time. My classmates are joining me in thanking you for this very special gift. May God bless you with great joy and strength to carry on these important tasks for your family, friends, and schoolmates. We raise a toast to you Edgar for we are all grateful!
( note: after this speech, while standing up, you will raise your glass, or tea cup )
Thanks so much sa inyong dalawa ha? Ikain na lang ninyo ako, gusto ko ay dimsum :-)
